“Pimp My Religion”

I heard a car with it’s stereo going “Boom, Boom, Boom”, turned and saw it had wheels so big they barely fit under the fenders, dark tinted windows, carpeted dash board, and the body was so many different colors I don’t know which color to say it was! Man it was pimped out to the max!  Now days we pimp everything out. Our house, our cars, our kids, ourselves and yes, even our religion! Thirty years ago being a pimp wasn’t cool. In fact those kinds of things we’re done in secret and usually at night. But today, it’s all “coming out of the closet”. Anything goes and everything is accepted.

Today the Spirit of God used this example to speak to me about how we should properly represent Jesus in our present age. We need to stop “pimping” our religion. Now days the pulpits are full of Prosperity Pimps, Denomination Pimps, Peace & Love Pimps, even Grace Pimps! (Oh I can see I’m fix’n to get into trouble now). We’ve pimped out our religion so much it’s hardly recognizable as the Gospel any more! We don’t need to fancy up or dramatize the Gospel, it has enough “bling” to it all by itself. What we need to do is lift up Jesus! Speak of His truth. Don’t put no sugar, salt, spinners or thinners on it, just “present” it like it is! Do you feel me? Word out!
