To Who? Be The Glory.

Recently I read an article boasting of hundreds accepting Christ as Savior at a perticuler church event. The article was praising the countless efforts of the staff and volunteers that made it possible to get these people saved. I was amazed! Not at the claims of hundreds accepting Christ, but amazed at the boldness of those who serve in the church accepting for themselves the glory that belongs to God. I’ve often heard people say “I led him or her to Christ”. The Bible clearly says that “No man can come to me (Jesus) except the Father….draw him:”. We don’t choose the time or place when one is converted. Shame on us for even acting like we had something to do with one’s salvation. I’m all for giving honor to whom it’s due and encouraging the dedication of God’s people. Giving God glory when someone truly accepts Christ as Saviour is my pleasure. Giving God glory for all the marvelous works He performs through His people is my joy. Telling others about how God is moving in my community is my responsibility. But ALL the glory is His! It’s through Him, by Him and because of Him that anything good gets done. Psalm 51:10 says “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” and Psalms 3:8 says “Salvation belongs to the Lord…” We need to be sure that when we speak of the things God is doing, the intentions of our heart is to give God glory, not ourselves!
