In due season……

A great reminder in hard times. Sometimes when we’re in the midst of a dark valley we forget that this season will not last forever. Today may be tough and tomorrow may not look much better, but as sure as there’s a God in Heaven this season will change. I remember just a few years ago thinking everything in my financial life was falling apart. A couple of poor decisions left me on the verge of bankruptcy. But I cried out in repentance to my Lord, and He heard me! The past few years haven’t been easy, but because of His mercy and Grace, not one bill has been late. There have been times I didn’t know how or where the money would come from but somehow it was there right when I needed it. By his blessings I’m working harder than ever before to be debt free by the end of 2011. Even though I’m committed and determined to be debt free, I have to keep my eyes focused on Jesus. I cannot let my personal goals blind me from opportunities God so cleverly places before me. Today I was privileged to deliver a gift from God to a person in need. I left with tears in my eyes when I recognized how God has turned a hopeless situation in the worlds eyes into victory for me! As I step toward God, He has indeed reached out for me. He will do the same for you. Will you step toward Him today?

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:9-10 KJV

Honor in 2011. What is it?

I was listening to a preacher the other day on the radio. He made the comment that we should always honor the office and the man holding the office even if we disagree. He used David and Saul as the example. David had the chance to kill Saul twice but because Saul was God’s anointed David did not kill him, even though he could have. David chose to honor Saul and the office he was appointed. The preacher made the comment that if Barack Obama walked into his church he would stand to his feet and salute him because that’s what God says do. Honor the man and the office. Is that what God says? I understand honoring the office. I understand being respectful to the man, even your enemy if that’s the case. But when I look at Saul, I see a man chosen by God and anointed, regardless of his choices. I can understand David’s decision in honoring Saul. Is Barack Obama called and anointed of God? Should we honor the actions of people that have such an ungodly view just because they hold an important worldly office? Is it really what God wants from us as his children? If so, how can we ever firmly stand against anything ungodly if it was hailed as okay from an important office? I say honor what is honorable. I say honor who is honorable. I say honor actions that are honorable. Stand against all evil. Use God’s word to discern the difference. What do you think?

Nutrition

In observing the product being served in most churches today I’ve discovered that it resembles McDonalds in so many ways. How you ask? Well McDonalds, and almost all fast food place’s in America, are known for having so much more in their food than well…..food. It’s filled with fillers and by-products, preservatives and who knows what all those chemicals are. Have you ever made a hamburger patty at home that looked anything like a McDonald’s hamburger patty? Probably not, know why? Because you used ground beef, not fillers and by-products. And you had a real hamburger! How does this relate to the church? Well what is ministry in 2011? Seems to me that it’s mostly about what they (the church) can get us to buy (books, CD’s, budgets, etc.). It’s about how they (the church) can get us to give (not just a little but till it hurts). So that they (the church) can build bigger and better facilities so that they (the church) can reach more people….for Christ of course. So many times it seems to me that I received a McDonald’s hamburger patty at church, instead of the real thing! I need truth! I need to hear about Jesus! I need to see the Pastor living like Jesus, not like a Hollywood superstar. I’m afraid that what we’ve been fed at church has done to our soul what McDonalds has done to our flesh. God help the church! Send a revival across this land! IN JESUS NAME!!!!! Amen.
