“Useful To The Master”

June 26, 2011 ( Jonah 1-4; II Timothy 2)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” II Timothy 2:21 NASB

Observation: To be a vessel that brings honor to God we must cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV) The Holy Spirit sanctifies us, makes us useful and prepares us for every good work.

Application: I don’t see many people striving towards perfection for a life of holiness these days. We have heard so many times, “we can’t do it” that we have began to believe this, so we’ve said what’s the use in trying. But our victory is not in what the world says we can achieve. Our victory is in Christ Jesus! He said we can live a life of holiness and I believe Him! I want to be a vessel that brings honor to God, sanctified, useful to my Master.

Prayer: Father thank you for this day, you know what all it holds for me. Keep me safe and protected. Continue to sanctify me and set me apart for your glory. Show me how to live a life of holiness that is pleasing to you. With Christ in me, I know it can be achieved. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Sound The Alarm!”

June 25, 2011 ( Joel 1-3; II Timothy 1)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Blow a trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming; Surely it is near..” Joel 2:1 NASB

Observation: The Lord is not slack concerning His promises, as some men count slackness. He said He would return, and He will. In a day when we think not. We’ll be making plans for tomorrow when suddenly we hear a great shout and a trumpet blast! Surely that day is near! One thing I know for sure, that day is one day closer today, than it was yesterday!

Application: As Christians it’s our responsibility to sound the alarm until that promised day is fulfilled. Before we can tell others about Jesus and the gospel, we must first learn of it and experience it for ourselves. If you’re born again, you can witness to others. You can sound the alarm by telling people what Jesus has done for you! Tell someone today.

Prayer: Father thank you for your mercy and grace that’s always abounding. Plant boldness within my soul to testify of Jesus, and tell of the impact He’s had in my life. Place someone in my presence today that needs to hear from you. When you do, speak through me the words that need to be spoken. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Hope Fixed On What?”

June 24, 2011 (II Kings 11-12; II Chronicles 24; I Timothy 6)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” I Timothy 6:17 NASB

Observation: Through out history man has put his hope in the quickly vanishing riches of this life. Here we read Paul’s instruction on what to “fix” our hope upon. If you hope in your riches, your hope will be destroyed in the day of calamity. But when your hope is fixed on God, you will enjoy all that you have, rather it be great or small.

Application: Learn how to give. I’ve learned over the past few years that I can’t out give God. When I do what pleases Him with what I have, He gives me more. I’ve also learned that 100% of what I have is His, not just 10%. When you learn how to give to others and correctly manage all of God’s possessions, then a peace that surpasses our understanding fills us and brings contentment.

Prayer: My father, thank you so much for all you’ve given me. Help me understand how you would have it managed. May your peace and contentment reign in my heart and soul. Fix my hope on you, and you alone. Humble me or exalt me as you see fit, in Jesus name, Amen.

“Gate Keeper”

June 23, 2011 (II Kings 10; II Chronicles 22-23; I Timothy 5)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “He stationed the gatekeepers of the house of the Lord, so that no one would enter who was in any way unclean.” II Chronicles 23:19 NASB

Observation: Jehoiada had gatekeepers to keep people out of the house of the Lord that were unclean. Today, we tout the church as a place for the unclean to come, but have to entice them to get them to come. People are strange! Maybe we should put guards up at the church to keep people out so that they would want to come!

Application: Okay maybe I got carried away a little bit with my observation. But think about it. How wonderful is it to know we can approach the throne of grace boldly through Christ Jesus. We are made clean through His sacrifice and His blood that was shed. If we could only share with the world the blessing of having a relationship with Jesus, wow, how much of a difference it would make! Let’s start with those God places before us today, tell somebody about what Jesus has done for you!

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, thank you so much for Jesus. Thank you for the cleansing power in His blood. Thank you that I can worship you and raise up clean hands with Christ in me! May the desire to worship you continue to grow in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Pay Close Attention”

June 22, 2011 (II Kings 8-9; II Chronicles 21; I Timothy 4)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching;” I Timothy 4:16 NASB

Observation: We often focus on others when it comes to the issue of false teaching. Somehow we extinguish ourselves from that category. Here we read Paul’s instruction to Timothy to pay attention. To what? Yourself and what your teaching!

Application: “Do as I say, not as I do” the famous last words of a false teacher. I prefer to call them hypocrites! It’s one thing to teach others, it’s another to live it yourself. The only way you will be successful in life is to “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness” vs 7. If we can ever learn to examine ourselves and verify all of our thoughts and beliefs with God’s word we would indeed become a godly influence for the world to see.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you today for your many blessings. Praise you for your mercy and grace. Worship you because of who you are! Guide me as I look into your word for direction, correction and reproof. Help me pay close attention to myself and what I teach. May it be your gospel and message only that come from my lips and life. Cleanse me and establish my heart. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Godly Allies”

(June 21st, 2011 II Kings 6-7; II Chronicles 20; I Timothy 3)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Because you have allied yourself with Ahaziah, the Lord has destroyed your works.” II Chronicles 20:37 NASB

Observation: To team up with someone who works wickedly will result in your works being destroyed. It’s better to be few with God, than to have masses without Him!

Application: Seek God for those whom you are to labor with in the work of the Lord. God places people together to strengthen and uphold one another. A three stranded cord is not easily broken. Beware of those who have a profession of faith in God but lack the evidence of Godly fruit in their life. It could be that satan has cleverly disguised himself to deceive you.

Prayer: Lord thank you for your Spirit that guides us into all truths. Protect us I pray from the workers of iniquity. Provide for us clear vision to see who you would have us to team together with. Help us find your place for us to serve. In Jesus name, Amen.

Got Greed?

June 20, 2011 (II Kings 4-5; Psalm 83; I Timothy 2)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “…..As the Lord lives, I will run after him and take something from him.” II Kings 5:20 NASB

Observation: Elisha would not accept a gift from Naaman for the healing God performed. This just rubbed Gehazi the wrong way. Gehazi was the servant of Elisha, he had everything he would ever need because of the Spirit of God being with Elisha. Yet he was overtaken by greed. He, and his family, ended up with the disease that God healed Naaman of because of the lie and greed that captured his heart.

Application: We need to remember why we serve God the Father. It’s not for personal gain, and certainly not for riches of this life. Be careful that your desires are righteous. Focus on what you can give and you will help protect yourself from greed. Be on guard, satan is always looking for an opportunity to overtake you and cause you to stumble.

Prayer: Lord thank you for your blessings. Help me be content with what you’ve given me. Keep me from lust and greed of what others have. Focus my heart towards giving. Protect and deliver me from temptation, cleanse my thoughts and create a clean heart within me. In Jesus name, Amen.
