“The Last Hour”

August 21, 2011 (Jeremiah 21, 24, 27; Psalm 118; 1 John 2)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrist have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.” 1John 2:18 NASB

Observation: This is a clear warning to all believers both then and now. Jesus is coming, and indeed we are living in the last hour. The name Jesus, has become a bad word through out the world. He has been thrown out of the school house, the court house, the white house and yes, even the church house and antichrist have been put in His place. Be careful little children, do not be deceived.

Application: We must stay alert to satans schemes. We have the word of God readily available to us more than any generation in the past, yet we fall into satans traps over and over. Why? It’s really pretty simple, we don’t study God’s word. We go to church, not to worship God, but rather to worship our emotions. If it feels good to the flesh we want more of it, if it don’t, we want no part of it. There’s more to serving and worshipping God than a feel good experience. Watch out, “feel good” is how the antichrist will deceive many. Stay alert, study God’s word daily!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your mercy and grace. Thank You for The Holy Spirit that comforts, guides and instructs us. Let us be so filled with The Holy Spirit that we are able to discern antichrist when we encounter them. Protect us from satan and his evil desires to destroy us in order to hurt You. Place within our soul the importance of this last hour, prepare us for the day of Christ return. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Fellowship with Him”

August 20, 2011 (Jeremiah 48-49; Psalm 67; 1 John 1)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” 1 John 1:6 NASB

Observation: To hear someone make a profession of faith is a wonderful thing, but if the new life continues to pollute itself with darkness then the proclamation is in vain. To have fellowship with Christ one must forsake darkness, worldly desires, and personal lust. When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior then we have recieved the responsibility to learn how to practice His truth.

Application:When do you have fellowship with God? On Sunday morning? On Wednesday evening? It’s a sad fact that this is the extent of most people’s fellowship with Christ. True fellowship with Christ is far more than attending a church service. It’s a daily walk. It’s a daily lifestyle. If you’re not spending time daily with Christ, seeking Him in His word and in prayer, there’s a really good chance your proclamation of fellowship with Christ is a lie. And the one deceived the most is you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for not only being Savior, but for being Lord of my life. Your ways are high and holy. They lift me up to a place I could never reach in my own strength. Guide my feet away from the paths of darkness, let Your word be a light unto my feet showing me the path I should follow. Help me daily practice Your truth in every way and have fellowship with You, in Jesus name, Amen.

“Praise The Lord”

August 19, 2011 (Jeremiah 45-47; Psalm 105; John 21)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “So that they might keep His statutes and observe His laws, Praise the Lord.” Psalm 105:45 NASB

Observation: He spread out a cloud for a covering, He started a fire to illuminate the night, He satisfied them with manna and quail from heaven, He opened the rock and fresh water ran out, He delivered his people from Pharaoh’s army, they crossed over on dry ground and rejoiced with a joyful shout, He gave them also the land of promise, Why? So that they might keep His statutes and observe His laws! Wow! Praise the Lord!

Application: We often forget to look back and remember what all God has done for us. All the valley’s He has carried us through, all the mountains of joy we have experienced at the hand of His mercy. All the blessings He gave, that we didn’t deserve. The daily bread we eat, the clothes we wear, the car we drive, the roof over our head, the health we enjoy, the gift of His Spirit that guides, the Salvation we have through His Son, Jesus. All this He has given freely, in hopes that we would keep His statutes and observe His laws. We really should, Praise the Lord!

Prayer: Praise You Father, You are awesome and holy! You have given me so much, thank you. May I be content with all You’ve allowed me to manage, may I manage it in a way that pleases You. Thank you for all the things You’ve done for me in the past, thank you for all you’re doing for me now, thank You for all You’re going to do in the future. I praise You! I worship You! I love You, You are my God and I am Your son. In Jesus name, Amen!

“Perhaps They Will Listen”

August 18, 2011 (Jeremiah 26, 35-36; John 20)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Perhaps they will listen and everyone will turn from his evil way, that I may repent of the calamity which I am planning to do to them because of the evil of their deeds.” Jeremiah 26:3 NASB

Observation: God has instructed Jeremiah to stand up and preach the word of the Lord one more time. God is patient, but His patience eventually runs out. Jeremiah once again proclaimed the word of the Lord to the people and what did they want to do? They wanted to kill Jeremiah. All God wanted was for them to hear the warning alarm, repent of their sin and turn back to Him, but that was too much to ask.

Application: It’s really no different today. All God want’s, is for you and me, to hear the warning alarm, repent of our sins and turn back to Him, and yet again that’s too much to ask of us. We still seek to kill the messenger of God instead of heeding the message and repenting. Our lives suffer greatly because of sin and God has provided the remedy but we refuse it. To accept Christ is to die to ourselves and that price is just too much for us to pay.

Prayer: Father, thank you for Your mercy and patience. It astounds me. I know You have many who have not bowed their knee to baal and turned from You and worshipped other gods. Strentghen each one, called by Your name to proclaim a message of warning in these desperate times. Anoint ears to hear and hearts to recieve Your instruction. Lord Jesus, come quickly, in Jesus name, Amen.

“No Authority Over Me”

August 17, 2011 (Jeremiah 23, 25; John 19)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Jesus answered, you would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” John 19:11 NASB

Observation: Jesus was unjustly accused. He was completely innocent and yet false accusations were being made by evil self-willed people against Him. Pilate felt like he had great power of his own ability, but Jesus let him know the power he had was given by divine providence. Notice too that the one’s who delivered Jesus to Pilate had the greater sin resting upon their head.

Application: We should be careful about how we bring people to justice in this world. The people that delivered Jesus to the high court were the religious group of that day that believed within their own heart they loved God and was doing Him a service. Yet they prove by their actions that they really only loved themselves. When you’re delivered before the courts by evil self-willed rebellious people, remember that though the court may play a role in the outcome, just as in the case of Jesus, but the one that brought you falsely before them is guilty of the greater sin. Surely, those that deliver the innocent falsely before the court will not go unpunished.

Prayer: Father thank you for Your word that proclaims You love justice. Thank You for watching over Your children that are being falsely accused and drug before the high courts. Provide wisdom for the judge to understand completely. Provide courage for them to rule righteously. Punish the wicked that bring forth false allegations against Your children in an effort to fullfil the lust for material things that has overtaken their heart. Save them from themselves and rescue them from the snare of satan. Replace the need for material things in their life, with a desire and longing for You, in Jesus name, Amen.

“The Ruins of a City”

August 16, 2011 (2 Kings 24; Jeremiah 22; Psalm 112; John 18 )

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “People from many nations will pass by the ruins of this city and say to one another, ‘why did the Lord destroy such a great city?’ And the answer will be, ‘because they violated their covenant with the Lord their God by worshipping others gods.'” Jeremiah 22:8-9 NLT

Observation: God has one great commandment that can never be broken. He is the only God that His people shall worship. He must be first and His standards must be upheld. The Lord says be fair-minded and just, do what is right! Help those who have been robbed; rescue them from their oppressors, and quit your evil deeds. Pay attention to the instructions of the Lord, they are in place to save you, not destroy you. Yet if you will not heed the instruction of the Lord, destruction is your destiny and ruin is your fate. His word is a lamp unto our feet. He has given us all the warning and instruction we need. The choice is ours to embrace His word and live, or reject it and become ruined.

Application: I’ve never been to the “Holy Land” but I’ve heard many stories from some that have. They talk about the great cities that once were. They speak of the ruins that cause their minds to imagine what it must have been like then. However, I’ve never heard anyone talk of the reasons why the cities have fallen. Because we neglect God’s word we fail to even understand why they are left for us to view. People from many nations have walked through the ruins of old and asked the question, ‘Why did the Lord destroy such a great city?’ and yet the answer is found within the pages of God’s word. They committed adultery against God and worshipped other gods. They forsook and broke the first and greatest commandment. There is only one God, and there will never be another any greater than Him!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your mercy and grace that provide and protect me every day. Thank You for Your word that instructs and teaches me Your ways. Thank You for the ruins left behind that reminds me to remain faithful to You. Give me the wisdom to know what’s right and the courage to do what’s right, even when it’s hard. You are my God and above You there is no other! Keep me from idols, in Jesus name, Amen!

“Proclaiming The Message”

August 15, 2011 (Jeremiah 18-20; Psalm 93; John 17)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, because for me the word of the Lord has resulted in reproach and derision all day long.” Jeremiah 20:8 NASB

Observation: Jeremiah was weary from the message God had given him to proclaim. The nation had gone so far from God and was so sinful that violence and destruction was all that was prophisied to them. Jeremiah was given the duty of sounding the alarm to a people who’s ears were dull of hearing and who’s necks were stiff and refused to turn from their own ways.

Application: Where are the Jeremiah’s today? America has turned from God and is steadily removing God from it’s society. Violence and destruction is coming! If we proclaim the message God has given us and sound the alarm we receive the same response Jeremiah did. Our word’s, the message God sent forth with us, have been mocked and laughed at, despised and rejected boastfully. God’s wrath is coming, just like He promised!

Prayer: Dear Father, help me to stand firm and strong when proclaiming the message You’ve given me. Cast off and deliver me from the distractions the enemy has brought against me. Use this situation to further the warning message You’ve given and bring glory to Your name. Build a hedge of protection around me that the enemy cannot penetrate. Keep me safe under Your almighty arm, in Jesus name, Amen.
