“Taken Captive”

June 16, 2011 (I Kings 17-19; Colossians 2)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8 NASB

Observation: This is a clear warning to watch out! We have to be on guard and alert for those that satan may try to use to deceive us. Beliefs, understandings, and traditions must line up with God’s word. When God speaks, He says what He means and means what He says.

Application: Seek God for yourself. His word is more available today than ever before. We are without excuse! Be careful who you listen too and trust in. For even prophet’s have been known to lie. (I Kings 13:18.) In your quest to find truth, you must open the Bible and let the Word of God speak.

Prayer: Father thank you for your presence, thank you for your word that speaks volumes to my soul. Your word protects and instructs better than anything, or anyone, else I know! Guide me into your truth, protect my mind from being deceived. May ALL my beliefs be based on the source of your word. In Jesus name, Amen.
