“God’s People”

August 26, 2011 (Jeremiah 50-51; 3 John)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “My people have become lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray. They have made them turn aside on the mountains; they have gone along from mountain to hill and have forgotten their resting place.” Jeremiah 50:6 NASB

Observation: This seems to be a consistent theme with God’s people throughout history and in our current day. Like dumb sheep we listen to the shepherd’s that lead us astray, yet we have God’s word that clearly shows us the way. We move from mountain to hill seeking rest and a safe place, but we have forgotten that rest and peace are found only in Him and His ways.

Application: So how do we avoid this? Are the answers not found within the pages of God’s word? If there was ever a time that we need to seek God in His word it’s now. We have the example of past generations that clearly show us the results of going our own way. Destruction and pain is all that’s on that path. Get out God’s word and seek Him to lead you. Ask Him to make His word a lamp that will light the pathway for us to walk.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me see Your light. Help me understand and apply Your truth to this life of mine. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from the bondage of myself. Build a hedge of protection around Dawn, Gracie and me, that not only keeps the enemy out, but us where we should be. In Jesus name, Amen.
