“They Cry Peace”

July 9, 2011 (Micah 1-4; Hebrews 6)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; When they have something to bite with their teeth, they cry “peace,” But against him who puts nothing in their mouths they declare holy war.” Micah 3:5 NASB

Observation: This is a message to prosperity gospel preachers! “For as long as they are well paid and well fed, the preachers preach, ‘Isn’t it wonderful, peace to all’, but if you don’t pay up and jump on their bandwagon, their ‘God bless you’ turns into ‘God damn you.’ Therefore, you’re going blind. You’ll see nothing. You’ll live in deep shadows and know nothing.” Quoted from “The Message” Micah 3:5-6

Application: When preaching becomes a profession, instead of a labor of love, we get off track. Not only us, but we lead others astray as well. For if the blind lead the blind, shall they not both fall in the ditch? Guard yourself! Support what is right! Be careful to follow man, only as he follows Christ.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your divine protection. Thank you for Your word that has an answer for any situation we may find ourselves in. I ask You Father, to anoint preachers in this generation to preach the word. Anoint men to know Your word and preach Your gospel all because they love You and the people you sent Your Son to die for, not for filthy lucre’s sake. In Jesus name, Amen.
