July 8, 2011 (Hosea 13-14; Psalm 100, 102; Hebrews 5)
From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:
Scripture: “Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. Hebrews 5:8 NASB
Observation: Here we have Jesus, the only man ever to walk this earth from birth to death without sin, learning how to be obedient to His Father. The scripture didn’t say He knew how already, it said he “learned” how. How did He learn? From the things which He suffered. So shall we.
Application: So many times when we face suffering the first thing we do is forsake God. When in reality we should be running to Him, not from Him. He is a loving father that knows whats best for each of us. We must learn to be obedient to Him and trust Him just as Jesus did. I’m persuaded that the benefits gained through learning obedience, is far greater than the pain of suffering.
Prayer: Father thank you for always knowing whats best for me. Anoint my mind, heart and soul to hear your instruction. May I look to the example of Jesus and learn from Him. Help me model my life after Him, and Him alone. Keep me, hold me close, during times of suffering. Remind me then Lord, that you’re teaching me. In Jesus name, Amen.
