“Draw Me Nearer”

July 7, 2011 (Hosea 10-12; Psalm 73; Hebrews 4)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.” Psalm 73:28 NASB

Observation: When I stay close to God, it’s not only pleasing to Him, but it’s for my good. He speaks through His word and reveals instruction and direction for my life. His blessings have always been available to me, His child, but often times I’ve not received them because I wasn’t near Him.

Application: Saying “I don’t have time for God” is like saying “I don’t have time to breathe.” Notice too in verse 28, that the writer “Made” the Lord his refuge. To me that means, I have to make the conscious effort to make God first in my life. That’s the real key, if He’s first, I “will” have time for Him and be near Him.

Prayer: Lord, I come to you this morning thankful. You have been so good to me and so near. Your watchful eyes are upon me and protect me from harm. The desire to be near you, has been planted within my heart by Your Spirit. Cultivate, water and prune that desire so that it will grow and produce a harvest of fruit for Your glory, in Jesus name, Amen.
