July 6, 2011 (Hosea 6-9; Hebrews 3)
From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:
Scripture: “Though I wrote for him ten thousand precepts of My law, they are regarded as a strange thing.” Hosea 8:12 NASB
Observation: Many are the precepts found in God’s word, and yet today, just like then, they are regarded as a strange thing. Israel rejected God’s standard and refused to hear His truth. Far too many of the Christians of today are doing the same things. We stone the guilty and puff out our chest with pride, justifying our own actions by our own authority.
Application: We need to run, not wander, back to the Lord! Those who are professing to know Christ need to humble themselves. We are without excuse. We have His word. But can we hear it? Is it too hard for us to bear? Is it too burdensome for us to obey?
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you today for the precepts found in your word. Help me to listen to them and put them into action in my life. Father I pray you will strengthen me to fight the good fight, and finish this race strong in you. When I pick up a stone to cast at another, may the integrity of my soul cause me to drop the stone and walk away. Fill me with your grace and your justice, in Jesus name, Amen.
