“Jesus, My Lover”

July 5, 2011 (Hosea 2-5; Hebrews 2)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “…For a spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they have played the harlot, departing from their God.” Hosea 4:12 NASB

Observation: Israel, God’s people. Yes, God’s chosen elect people have departed from Him. Their deeds will not allow them to return to their God. For a spirit of harlotry is within them, and they do not know the Lord. They will go with their flocks and herds to seek the Lord, but they will not find Him; He has withdrawn from them, Hosea 5:4,6.

Application: Oh how important it is to stay close to the Lord. For He alone is the lover of my soul. He will not share me with another. For I am His and He is mine. If I’m taken away by a spirit of harlotry, it is of my own choosing. He does not force me to love Him, for if it was of force, it would not be love.

Prayer: Dear Father, I’m so humbled and yet so exalted by our relationship. You desire and deserve all of my very being. All I can give to you will never be enough. If I do indeed give my all, you still deserve more! Let not that understanding be an excuse for me to play the role of a harlot. Cleanse me, my lover, make me wholly thine. In Jesus name, Amen.
