“Un-faithful to the Lord”

July 3, 2011 ( Isaiah 6-7; II Chronicles 26-27; Philemon)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “But when he became strong, his heart was so proud that he acted corruptly, and he was unfaithful to the Lord his God,” II Chronicles 26:16 NASB

Observation: Uzziah was doing so well. He sought the Lord and the Lord prospered him as long as he sought him (verse 5). But then it happened. He became strong in his own mind. Prideful to the point he thought he could just do whatever he wanted to do and no one could stop him. Because he was king. Pride will bring even the strongest person to leprosy.

Application: I’ve seen it so many times. A person crying in the altar, begging for God to provide relief for them. And God being the wonderful, loving father He is, gives. Then in just a few short days we forget the comfort He provided us. We get a raise, a promotion, a new job, a new car, a new house and everything is going great. Then we don’t need God any longer. We leave Him faster than we came to Him. We have it under control. Everything is wonderful, we are strong. We end up with leprosy in the eyes of God because of the pride we have in ourselves.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I come to you today humble. I know and acknowledge that any strength I have is from and of you. Holy Spirit, convict me of prideful thoughts, actions and lifestyle. Help me put you first, not in word only, but in deed. Cleanse and heal the leprosy in my life I’ve caused due to sin. Keep pride far from me, in Jesus name, Amen.
