“If You’ve Fallen, Get Up!”

August 28, 2011 (Ezekiel 1-3; Revelation 2)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture:Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.” Revelation 2:5 NASB

Observation: This is a pretty stern message sent to one of the seven churches. To me its a very strong warning against apostasy. To remember from where you have fallen shows one can fall, and to repent and do the deeds you did at first simply means, get back on track and live the life Christ has given you as an ensample. Jesus was clear as can be when He said if you don’t repent, the lampstand would be removed from its place.

Application: Many people have taken this scripture many different ways. For me, the main point is to stay connected to Christ and the life He’s given you. Don’t risk the blessings of God by embracing the sin of satan. Keep clear from satan and walk in the newness of life Christ gave you. If you really love Christ, you will keep His commandments. If you really love Christ, living for Him will be your pleasure, not a burden. Have you fallen? Have you repented? There’s no better time than now!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so much for Your word! It’s true forever and ever. You provided all the encouragement, correction, guidance, and warning to ensure we will make it home. Help me hear Your word, help me love Your word, help me live Your word. Forgive me I pray for straying away from Your path, I repent and desire to be restored to You completely. Protect me from my enemies and deliver me from their evil plans of devastation. In Jesus name, Amen.
