“Falsehood Our Refuge”

July 16, 2011 (Isaiah 25-28; Hebrews 13)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “…For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.” Isaiah 28:15 NASB

Observation: Our refuge and our hope is in Christ alone. The branch when disconnected from the vine will wither and die. As believers in Christ we must stay close to Him. We must seek Him daily, learn of His word and of His will for our life. We must guard our minds from falsehood that may sound good and look appealing, but ultimately leads us to death.

Application: I heard a sermon the other day by a preacher that said “God, looks at us through a magical lens. He don’t see our sin. So we need to start seeing ourselves the way God see’s us, sinless.” Now that sounds good! But it’s not truth. The bible makes no mention of a “magical lens” and it makes it clear in 1 John chapter one how sin should be dealt with in the life of a believer. The key verse is verse 9, with a key word of “IF” we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. To say our sins are forgiven before confession is against God’s word. That’s when we have made falsehood our refuge and have concealed ourselves with deception.

Prayer: Father thank you for your word that has all the answers we need. When I seek you, the truth I need is revealed. You are wonderful! You are Great! You are Holy! I love you Lord. Protect my mind from falsehood. Strengthen me and the minority to stand strong for truth. God please continue to have mercy and patience with people, deliver them from the bondage of error that many trust in. In Jesus name, Amen.
