“Passing Pleasures of Sin”

July 14, 2011 (Isaiah 19-21; Hebrews 11)

From the Life Journal of Adam Proux:

Scripture: “Choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,” Hebrews 11:25 NASB

Observation: Moses didn’t choose the easy way. He could have had a life of luxury, but chose instead to suffer with the people of God for a time, looking ahead to a much better reward.

Application: Oh, to have the faith and attitude of Moses. To make the choice to suffer as the people of God instead of choosing the pleasures of sin that quickly fade away. Too many people are here for a good time, not a long time. Know why? Because good times don’t last forever! People today are more concerned about what they can get, rather than what they can give to God. Let that not be named once among us, as believers in Christ!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your word. Thank you for the people you have used in the past to teach me. Thank you for all those You will use in the future as well. Encourage me and let Your countenance shine upon me. Lord grant me favor within your site, to suffer with Your people rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Strengthen me to resist temptation when it comes, in Jesus name, Amen.
