Salvation, a divine privilege given by God himself.
I'd like to tell you how easy it is to receive and provide you a simple
repeat after me prayer, so you can get on your way as quickly as possible. However, God has been very clear in his word about "counting
the cost" before you commit to him. Not a message you'll hear from most churches today I know, but submitting yourself to Christ is
serious business. After all we are talking about eternal life.
First, let me say you can in no way ever be good enough, or become
good enough, to attain salvation. Salvation is attained through Jesus Christ and through Him alone. However, this fact does not
allow you the opportunity to live as you please. The bible is filled with many "warnings" to the believer about apostasy. Putting
your hand to the plow.....don't look back! Consider and understand what will be required of you to accept Jesus Christ and His gift
of salvation. He gave His life "for" you, and you must give your life, "to" Him.
That being said, understand what it means
to be "born again". A born again experience is a total transformation from a life tainted by continual sin to a life filled with
power from Jesus Christ to overcome the nature of sin within you. It will not be easy. As a matter of fact you should prepare yourself
for battle. The enemy will not be drugs, alcohol, or the world for that matter. The enemy most often is you! or more clearly,
the sinful nature you were born with.
God himself will meet you at the altar of salvation. He will bring to the altar, Jesus
the perfect sacrifice. What should you bring? Repentance. Not simply sorrowfulness, but repentance. When faith in Christ and repentance
come together one is born again.
I think you can see there is more to salvation than you may have thought. So if you are
ready to learn more, pick up a copy of the Bible and began reading in the New Testament book of John. Get ready for the most beneficial
and enjoyable experience of your life!
